Financial year 2023: Production increase and excellent annual result
Windkraft Simonsfeld has stood for the consistent expansion of renewable energy for the climate and energy transition for more than 28 years. In the 2023 reporting year, the Windkraft Simonsfeld Group set a new record for electricity production. The energy transition company's 94 wind and solar power plants produced around 678 million kWh of green electricity - an increase of 9.1% compared to 2022. This production corresponds to the annual electricity requirements of 169,000 households. The group of companies based in Ernstbrunn (Lower Austria), which operates throughout Europe, generated annual sales of €112.3 million and a consolidated profit after tax of €47.0 million.
More green power: projects and investments for the energy transition
€ 30.7 million was invested in the construction of new power plants and the development of new renewable energy projects in the reporting year. Windkraft Simonsfeld 2023 commissioned three wind turbines in Dürnkrut (Lower Austria) and three more will be connected to the grid this year in Wilfersdorf (Lower Austria). Six wind farms are currently in the approval process and numerous other projects are in the process of being approved or under development.
"By 2030, we want to triple our existing production with our portfolio of wind and solar power plants. This will enable us to supply even more green electricity for the energy transition and for a secure and independent regional power supply. The capital requirement is enormous and we will invest every available euro," says Markus Winter, Chief Technology Officer at Windkraft Simonsfeld.
Expansion of the company headquarters in Lower Austria
With the expansion of the headquarters in Ernstbrunn (Lower Austria), there is a clear commitment to the home location in Lower Austria. "The expansion of the existing site will provide our growing team with the best possible, modern working environment for our next expansion steps from fall 2024. It will be implemented in accordance with the highest ecological standards and is a state-of-the-art flagship project. We are thus investing in regional jobs and value creation," says Alexander Hochauer, CFO of Windkraft Simonsfeld.
Participation in the energy transition possible for everyone
As one of the largest citizen participation companies in Austria, Windkraft Simonsfeld AG recorded a new high of 2,519 shareholders in the reporting year. "We want to offer all interested parties the opportunity to participate in the energy transition and the energy of the future. This is possible at any time via our online trading platform," says Hochauer.
